It may be hard to believe, but something as small as a pair of wedding shoes can make or break your special day. Being a bride means being the star of the day. All eyes will be on you, so it is very important that you choose a pair of wedding shoes that are both comfortable and stylish. Besides comfort and style, there are also other factors that you should consider when choosing the right wedding shoes.
1. Season. If you’re lucky enough to live in an area where the climate is moderate, this shouldn’t be a problem. If that isn’t the case, the season is a factor that you have to consider when choosing a pair of wedding shoes. During the cold months, you may want to opt for closed shoes. However, if you think that closed shoes are too old -fashioned, you can wear sling backs or peep-toe heels. If you’re having your wedding in the summer, you can pretty much choose any style of wedding shoes.
2. Venue. When buying a pair of wedding shoes, consider the venue. Are you going to be having an outdoor wedding in a garden, a beach or a theme park? if so, you want to wear flats or bridal flip-flops. If you want to add some inches to your height without compromising comfort, you can wear shoes with broad heels such as wedges. If you’re going to be having your wedding indoors, it’s likely that you’re going to be walking on tiles or hardwood floors. If that’s the case, you can wear high-heeled shoes or stilettos. You can’t wear stilettos to a beach wedding unless you’re aiming to get a broken ankle.
3. Formal Or casual? If you’re planning on a laid-back wedding ceremony, you can wear bridal flip-flops. Bridal flip-flops are very popular nowadays, and they are very comfortable. If you’re going to have a traditional wedding in a big church, you should choose a more formal pair of shoes, such as strappy sandals or closed shoes. If there’s going to be dancing after the ceremony, try and choose shoes that will let you dance for hours without crippling your feet.
4. Comfort. No matter how beautifully designed or stylish a pair of shoes is, it wouldn’t be a good choice if they make you want to take them off after an hour of wearing them. If you’re not used to wearing shoes with high heels, wearing stilettos for the first time on your wedding day is a bad idea. If you don’t like people looking at your toes, you should steer clear from strappy sandals. Needless to say, it’s very important for you to look and feel gorgeous on your big day.
No matter what kind of shoes you choose, you need to get used to wearing them before you wear them to your wedding. You’re not going to race in a car you haven’t even test-driven yet, do you? Try and spend some time practicing: wear them indoors for an hour or two, practice walking and standing in them. If your wedding dress is short and requires you to show your bare legs, you should put aside some time shortly before the wedding to get a pedicure and to shave your legs. No matter how gorgeous your wedding shoes are, they’re not going to do you any favors if you have ingrown toenails or stubble on your legs.
