Dance Floor Rental for a Wedding

Dance Floor Rental for a Wedding

No matter what kind of dancing shoes you will be wearing or what music will be playing, a dance floor rental may be a necessity at your wedding. Whether you will be waltzing or boogieing down to pop music, a flat and sturdy surface is going to make the night a lot smoother, especially for those wearing expensive or heeled shoes.

Many banquet halls do not have dance floors and are entirely covered in carpet, which can be a difficult surface to dance on, unless you are in socks or bare feet. Outdoor weddings and receptions usually require dance floor rentals as well. Again, unless you are having a very casual or barefoot wedding, remember that grass is not easy to move around on with dress shoes. It is possible that the lawn you will be on is fairly flat, but that does not mean that high heels will not sink into the grass causing sprained ankles and embarrassment.

The main things that you should be considering before making a decision on a portable dance floor are the number of guests attending, how many of them may be dancing and what type of dancing will occur. Obviously if you are having a very large wedding and reception, you will need a very large dance floor. You may not have a large wedding but have a number of wild dancers, children or even skilled formal dancers in attendance that will take up a lot of square footage.

Rental dance floors come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors, so no matter you wedding theme there should be a floor that will match. What is readily available to you really depends on the area you live in. Areas that are more metropolitan may have a larger selection of companies to work with and more floor design options as well. However, there may also be a tighter renting schedule, so make phone calls to these companies early on.

If you live in a rural area, you may want to start searching way ahead of time for the type of dance floor you want. This is because not only may you have to deal with a renting schedule, but you may also have to spend some time convincing a company to travel to your area or even ship what you need in time for the big day. Most companies are not going to be willing to travel to you if they have another paying customer nearby with the same wedding date. Some may be willing to travel for extra incentives.

If you live near an event planning company or one that rents out dance floors, you may be able to have the company set up the floor for you a day ahead of time and return after the reception to take it apart and pick it up. For brides to be who already have too many things to plan and do this can be the best way to handle the situation. It may seem like a simple money-saver to do it yourself, but those last minute tasks can pile up and make the days before your wedding very stressful.

Companies such as SnapLock Dance Floors and Dance Deck offer floors that they claim are easy to install yourself and have instructions online to help. These are just two of the many online dance floor rental companies. Again, if you are already feeling overwhelmed, you may want to seek out a company to lay down the floor for you or maybe ask friends or family to spend a couple of days ahead of time putting the floor together.
