Being at the beach with the one you love can be very romantic but getting married on the beach is the ultimate in romance. Almost everyone lives near a beach of some kind that can be utilized as a wedding venue. So get your wedding flip flops ready and do some planning.
Planning a wedding at the beach is a little different than planning one at a typical venue such as the local Elks Club or hotel function room. Weather is a huge consideration as being outside, rain or other weather related events could literally soak your function or blow it away. If you live in an area that experiences tropical storms, you might want to stay away from hurricane season.

When it is time to send out wedding invitations, how about sending a message in a bottle? Nothing says a day at the beach like finding a message in a bottle. It is a fun way to tell your guests you are ready to say “I do.” Bottles are available with corks – sand, seaweed and sea shells are optional.
Some people put disposable cameras on the table and encourage guests to take pictures during the wedding. A good idea for a beach wedding might be to put a bottle of sunscreen on each table and encourage your guests to apply it and stay safe from unnecessary sun burn. At the end of the day, someone somewhere in the crowd will be glad they did.
If the wedding will take place right out on the sand, perhaps provide a pair of flip flops for each guest. That will keep them from being barefoot and will save their shoes from filling with sand. Flip flops probably won’t make a fashion statement but it will be a very practical wedding favor.
Monogrammed wedding beach towels might be a nice item to provide your guests. Perhaps, have a picture of the happy couple or the wedding invitation printed on them. If the mood to swim strikes, everyone will be prepared. Even if the mood doesn’t strike for everyone, anyone who happens to take a post wedding dunking will be prepared.
If kids will be in attendance at your wedding, a nice favor for the kids might be sand pail and shovels. Imagine the free time the adults will have when the kids are sent off with their pails and shovels for a sand castle building contest.
Overall a beach wedding can be fun and relaxing – just make sure you put some thought into the planning.
