Make Your Own Customized Floating Candle Centerpieces

Getting married is a wonderful, romantic experience. It’s also unbelievably expensive. There are so many things you need to spend on. Your wedding gown, the caterer, the church fees, wedding invitations and souvenirs are just a FEW examples. If you’re planning to get married, you might as well say goodbye to half your savings. Even something as simple as wedding centerpieces can cost a fortune.

Fortunately, there are ways to lessen the cost of your wedding. One way is to make your own customized wedding centerpieces. It’s less expensive than buying them, and making your own gives you the opportunity to give each of them a personalized touch.

Floating candle centerpieces are a great option. They’re exquisitely beautiful, and they’re unbelievably easy to make to boot.

Here is a short guide to get you started in making your own floating candle centerpieces.

1. Select The Right Candles

Since candles are the prime focus in this centerpiece, you should exercise care in selecting the right ones. Candles come in a wide array of colors, shapes and sizes, and it’s up to you to select the ones that you feel would not only go seamlessly with your wedding theme, but would also accentuate it.

For instance, if you want your wedding ceremony to simply exude romance, you should try using heart shaped candles. You can use red ones, pink ones, any color that you want. If you want your wedding to be classic, simple and elegant, you can’t go wrong with white round candles. If you’re having an Irish-themed wedding, try using thick cream-colored candles.

While it’s important that the candles you choose are aesthetically-pleasing and bring something substantial to the overall ambience of your wedding ceremony, it’s equally important that you choose candles with lead-free wicks, low soot wax, no smoke film, and long burning time to ensure that they would be burning bright throughout the wedding ceremony.

2. Select A Bowl

Now you need something to place your candle (or candles) in. You have a lot of choices, depending on what kind of candle display you’re planning. You can use a delicate stemmed bowl or a pretty goblet for a single floating candle centerpiece, or a wide-mouthed bowl for a group of small candles. You don’t have to stick to round bowls, however. You can get creative and use triangle or square bowls, hourglass-shaped cylinders, or pedestal bowls to create a multi-dimensional light effect.

 3. Add Your Own Special Touch

Decorating your centerpieces can make them look even more beautiful and dramatic than they already are. You can add ornaments and embellishments such as colored sand, colored stones, marbles, natural pebbles, gems, seashells, and real or silk flowers. You can also try adding a few drops of food coloring to the water to add some color to the centerpiece.

 4. Select A Base

Even though the base is not the focal point of your centerpiece, it’s still extremely important that you select and decorate your base with care. A pretty base can complete the look of a centerpiece, while a shoddy one can destroy it. Your base can be mirrors, a decorative plate, loose flower petals, or fabric.

Unlike what most people think, creating floating candle wedding centerpieces is easy. With just a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can easily make floating candle centerpieces that simply exude beauty, elegance, and romance.
