For purposes of this article, I have decided to focus only on 3 major romantic places, specifically, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles; and to further support my claim, I have listed hereunder some destinations and attractions these areas are known for, that led me to consider them in my list of the most romantic getaways in US:
Chicago Romantic Places and Attractions
Chicago has an abundance of remarkable diversions, vibrant neighborhoods and great restaurants. Definitely a “must” place for romantic weekends or vacations, great hotels and romantic B&Bs abound in Chicago that will surely set the mood for couples’ perfect weekend getaways.
Horse Drawn Carriage Tour
Nothing beats a downtown and lakefront tour in a romantic horse drawn carriage, at the corner of Chestnut and Michigan Streets.
Millenium Park Ice Rink
Free skating on the NHL-size outdoor rink is considered by many as a very romantic winter activity in Chicago.
Joseph Petrillo Band Shell
Especially during summer evenings, this is a fine place for romantic outdoor picnics under the stars, with classical music playing in the background.
San Francisco, California Romantic Places and Attractions
San Francisco is arguably, the country’s most romantic city. The ocean, landscapes and architecture and atmosphere make “San Fran” the foremost choice for romantic travels.
Golden Gate Park
It is considered as one of the finest city parks anywhere. With thousand acres of rose gardens, lakes and green space, the Golden Gate Park is perfect for walking or cycling across.
Crissy Field
Part of Presidio National Park, the Crissy Field is great for walking and enjoying ocean-views and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Los Angeles, California Romantic Places and Attractions
Any time of year is fine, but the months of October and April are the best time for exploring Los Angeles.
Malibu
One of the more relaxing romantic getaways in LA, Malibu has lots of romantic dining possibilities in numerous oceanfront restaurants.
Venice Beach
It is touted as the epicenter of California’s brand of culture and lifestyle. The 2km Ocean Front Walk is one of LA’s fun romantic hang out spots.
Santa Monica
A visit to Santa Monica Beach & Pier, casually exploring the Third Street Promenade is one of the most romantic things to do in Los Angeles.
Mulholland Drive
An early evening drive is sure to bring back memories of good old Hollywood films and other shows and programs shown over the years.
Naples Island Gondolas
Nothing will be more romantic than being serenaded, riding in authentic Italian gondolas, while floating through the canals of Naples.
