Among the many decorations included for your church wedding is the arch. Some do not opt to use an arch for a decoration but it is a nice touch to add to the beauty of your wedding décor. Arches could be made from a lot of different kinds of materials. Most of what we see are archs made of metal that are painted in white but there are arches made from wood or plastic. The couple could opt to rent their arch or have them custom made for a more original one.
Wedding arches should not be used alone as a décor. It should be adorned with fabric or flowers or any type of decorative things to counter the plainness. Arches also follow the theme of the wedding. For example, if you are going to have a beach wedding, you could do an arch with tropical flowers and palms to go along with the theme. If you want a garden wedding then decorate the arch with lots of greens and classic flowers like roses or calla lilies or star gazers. It would be a great frame for the couple during the ceremony. Using flowers for your arch adds a feminine touch.
Flowers used should be ones that are in season and the color should match the theme also. I particularly like arches that are round in shape like rainbows rather than the square type of arches. They are romantic looking.
Here are some wedding arches ideas using flowers and other embellishments:
- If you don’t have a color motif, you can wrap the arch with plenty of ivy or ferns to completely cover up the arch frame after which you can now play with the decorations.
- You can put ribbons and flowers of your choice. Again there are many options for this. If you like a clean romantic look, stick with white ones like white star gazers or roses.
- Some put a pair of wedding bells hanging over head of the arch, you can also have two doves cut out from Styrofoam or heart shapes with the couples’ name on them.
- There are arches with extensions that can hold flower arrangements on both ends also. If your color motif is red then you can make use of red hibiscus, roses, poppies, tulips and others. If you want yellow, there are sun flowers, roses, freesias, etc. I could go on and one with different flowers for your arch. Practically, any flower could be used if you know how to incorporate it with the décor of the arch. Just to remember to have a foundation of greens if you want it to look solid and don’t be afraid to experiment with what looks good. To give you a guide of what you may want, there are many pictures of wedding arches on the internet for you to copy.
