There are events in our lives that we will never forget: the first time we fell in love, graduating from high school and/or college, learning to drive, and getting married. Of course, each of these events marks an important chapter in our lives, but marriage, unlike the others, is one that will last a life time; so, it is probably best that everything occurs at the wedding be adorned most spectacularly.
One of the common features of a wedding reception is the cake; however, more and more people are selecting cupcakes instead. You may ask, “Why?” Well, they are cheaper, easier to bake, more practical for storing, and can come in an array of shapes, sizes, and unique designs (all of which are chosen by you!). Below is a guide on how to prepare wedding cupcakes for your special day down the aisle:
1) Gather the necessary items: cake mix, cupcake pans, cupcake liners, supports and platters, frosting, decorations, boxes for moving cupcakes, and foil or cling wrap.
2) Decide on the number of cupcakes you will need. Also, figure out how many cupcakes each person will be allowed to eat. For example, ideal weddings allow their guests to eat between one and three, so if you are going to have one-hundred people in attendance, for example, shoot for around two-hundred and three-hundred cakes. Also, expect for some of them to be destroyed along the way somehow, so plan for extras.
3) Decide who is going to do the actual baking of the cakes. Allowing several people to bake them is the general recommendation. Perhaps, for example, you could allow the bridesmaids to each make three or four dozen, while allowing your aunts and grandma to each make three or four dozen. Even you yourself could make a few dozen. A final option is having the cupcakes premade by a bakery unfrosted- this way you or your friends can decorate the tops of them!
4) Designing the cake: Select what the tower is going to look like, opting perhaps for a tall tower or a two-tiered tower. Remember to take into account how many cupcakes you are intending to create! Craft stores will have merchandise and support pieces to help with this step.
5) Decide on the flavor of the cake batter. Many people do not just choose one specific flavor; rather, they switch it up and try several different kinds, such as white silk, chocolate, or marble.
6) Determine what colored frosting you are going to use on each of the cupcakes. Also, figure out which ones will get decorations. Perhaps your wedding styles and colors will match the colors of the frosting, as you are going to want them to impress anyone who looks at them!
7) Guesstimate how much of everything you will require. As an example, will you need twelve boxes of chocolate cake mixes, or thirty-five? Realize that one box of cake mix makes roughly twenty cupcakes, and 75% of a tub of frosting covers one box of cake mix.

9) Bake the cupcakes. Know that unfrosted cupcakes are able to freeze well if covered carefully.
10) Decorate and frost the cakes as you had planned to do in step six.
11) Using small boxes, place the cupcakes inside; the boxes should be effective enough to transport the cakes to the wedding. Wrap the boxes with your aluminum foil or cling wrap.
12) Drive the cupcakes to the wedding. Put everything together at the wedding event itself so that nothing gets ruined in the process. Thus, bring all the supports, platters, and cakes themselves to the wedding. Leave extra cakes in the boxes until they are needed to fill in spaces.3) Dig in!
