In a wedding reception, the guests would surely look at how the table is arranged. What kind of plates, glass ware and silver ware were used and of course, the centerpiece of the table, which is usually a flower arrangement. If you are a beginner wedding table designer who would like to start his or her own business, maybe you would need a few tips on how to go about wedding flower arrangements for a table.
First, you need to know the usual materials used in making flower arrangements. Among these are, water proof tape and clay, glue gun and glue sticks, floral stem tape, anchor pins, stem wires, floral foam, dishes, vases and, bowls.
Next you have to view the reception area and the wedding theme. The wedding centerpiece flower arrangement must match the theme and the place of the reception. You can draw inspiration from many things, such as the view of the place, the sunset, the time of day, the color motif of the wedding or even the cloth table and china. The decorations and the flowers that will be used for the flower arrangement have to be consulted with the bride.
Arrangements for flowers can take many different forms or shapes. First we have the circle shape. This is a simple and clean flower arrangement ideal for centerpieces at wedding tables. You can make it as big or as small as you want. You can mix flowers such as roses, daisies, begonias, dandelions or carnations. Mums in particular are the most appropriate flower for this shape. Just make sure that the flower is of a symmetrical shape so that it is easy to manipulate.
Next we have the arc shape, this will not make a good center piece for round tables for 8-10 people as it is space occupying. However this is a great flower arrangement for long tables. The key to making an arc shaped flower arrangement is to make use of long large leaves that can be cut into shape to create that elongated shape at two ends. Again, different flowers can be used but make sure they are symmetrical. There are other shapes of flower arrangement that you can use like the curve, s curve, triangular and other shapes.
These are the traditional shapes for flower arrangements but today flower arrangements are more eccentric. Arrangements of flowers nowadays, are more daring and use flowers that are bigger and are of irregular shapes such as calla lilies, star gazers, dragons, African lilies, Alpinas and many others. I’m sure many brides will choose unique looking flowers and it is up to the flower arranger how to make it into something beautiful.
For the presentation of your arrangement, use vases of different designs. Some uses martini glass looking vases and others make use of tall crystal glass vases. You can choose flower stands that hold two arrangements at a time, one on the bottom and the other atop. Dishes can also be used to make your arc shaped arrangements. Again, choose the vessel that best adapts to the theme of the wedding.
Lastly, remember that fresh flowers are better than plastic or artificial flowers. Plastic flowers make decorations look cheap. So go, be creative and wow your clients with your flower arrangements.
