Choosing the right bridal shoes could spell the difference between a great wedding day and a perfect wedding day. As the bride, you are the star of the moment. It is very important that you choose the right type of shoes so you do not end up with aching feet and blisters at the end of the day. Wedding flip flops may be just the thing, or not. Aside from your dress and comfort, there are also other things that you need to consider in choosing the right wedding shoes.
- Season. If you live in an area where there is moderate climate and no extreme weathers, this should not be a big concern. Otherwise, this is something you need to consider if you want your feet to stay comfortable. During warm months, you can choose just about any style that will suit your style. One alternative to wedding shoes are bridal flip flops. In colder weather, it is more practical to choose closed shoes. If closed shoes are too conventional for you, choose peep toes or closed shoes with sling backs.
- Venue. Due to the advent of theme weddings, it is not uncommon to see weddings held outdoors such as gardens, in beaches, and even in woods or theme parks. In choosing the right pair of shoes, think of the kind of ground you will be walking on. If you would be walking on concrete or hardwood floors, high heeled stiletto shoes are ok. However, it is not recommended for gardens or the beach. It will be very uncomfortable and you will surely find it difficult to walk. Flats and bridal flip flops are more appropriate. If you want to look taller, choose shoes with broad heels such as wedge.
- Formality. If you are going for a more laid back wedding celebration, you can opt for wedding flip flops. They are very popular these days and are very comfortable. Big church weddings would require a more formal pair of shoes such as closed stilettos or strappy sandals. If there will be dancing after the celebration, choose shoes that are also fit for dancing.
- Comfort. No matter how pretty a pair of shoes is it would not be a good choice if they will make you want to take them off shortly after you put them on. If you are not used to wearing high heeled shoes, wearing one on your wedding day is definitely not a good idea. Same goes with strappy sandals if you do not like showing off your toes. It is very important that you look and feel beautiful on your wedding day.
As with any other shoes, your feet would need some time to get used to your shoes. Wear them indoors before your wedding day; practice walking in them and standing for about an hour. If you have a short dress or if you intend to have bare legs, take a close look at your legs and feet. People who are attending your wedding will do the same. Have your legs shaved and have a pedicure. Your pretty wedding shoes can only do so much if your feet will not look the part.
